recycle-blog-1

The daffodils are out, it’s time for a spring clean! Some of us take this opportunity to purge old and unwanted household items and replace with newer versions. This process is therapeutic, but can be expensive. Savvy consumers have learned that buying second hand is not only economical, it’s a sure-fire way of redecorating your home with unique pieces without the box fresh price tag.

What better way to sell your pre-loved items and purchase furniture (and other homeware gems) than at your local second hand sale? If you’re renting out a property, a quick and inexpensive way to provide furniture essentials for your tenants is heading to your local sale.

Henley residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to quality second hand sales, car boots, salvage fairs and the like. We’ve outlined our top 3 which are coming up soon and are not to be missed:

Sue Ryder Sale, Nettlebed.

The Sue Ryder sale is one of the most popular second hand sale destinations in the area. It operates once a month and is always filled to the rafters with old and new furniture. Some donated items have never been used. It boasts “something to suit every taste, from fantastic gift ideas through to gorgeous items to decorate your home” on their website. The next sale is on the 18th March 2017, doors open at 10.30 and closes at 12.30. To view future dates, visit their website www.sueryder.org/care-centres/hospices/nettlebed-hospice/sales.

Salvage is close to the hearts of the McAlpine’s, who over the years have been donated unwanted train carriages and machinery, only to be restored to full working order. The next sale will be on 24th-25th June 2017 and is perfect for the whole family to attend, £10 admission and £5 for a ride on the steam train. For more information visit www.salvofair.com
